Metal To Infinity
Feb 24, 2008
Check it out, this American veteran of Rock music walked already across numerous stages in 1963...yeah, you read this well! Percussion, vocal duties plus awesome guitar shreddings brought the man through all those years in a very comfortable position. He probably has crossed out ways with falls and stand up but totally respect is on my site for musicians like this.

Spreading the words of God, Gypsy Carns' solo career started back in 1992 but his first recordings dated from 1995. On the hunt for a record deal which he found by TTM Records, a solo album entitled "Prayin' Blues" saw the break of dawn and was everywhere well accepted. While the sun burned hot in 2000, it was time for a second release "Beale Street Swing" (Nightfly Records). Nearly 40 radio stations around the world gave this support by airplay so the name Gypsy Carns got more and more reputation and more albums were on the way!

"Revelation Blues", "G FoRcE", "Feel Good", "Raw Word", Gospel Train Coming" ( Tribute to Bues legends from the years '20 and '30),...several times rewarded for his great deliveries, Gypsy Carns kept on spreading the words of God no matter what it takes and the train rolled on and on passing by numerous holy places. Being a christian is not been spent on me but have aboslutely no problems with people that, however who feel attracted themselves by that! So far this short retrospection of Mr. Gypsy Carns long running, amazing career which is certain and in order not yet over and out.

Gypsy Carns' newest output "The Watchman" is unleashed in full glory. This is album number 8 and recommended for all those into Bleus Rock / Hard Rock and Southern Rock also. Due to i've never heard something from this rockin' preacher, it's an album that songs real good. The Spirit of 'Rock' is totally on and i can live with that. This is NOT a Metal album, instead GC delivers the goods with his own way of music. Strong voice, straight to the point with tone ladders very stable! Also armed with great guitar moves, dobro and harmonica using...all sounds like a mixture of Demon / Rory Gallagher and Blackfoot-Molly Hatchet to me.

Audiblely and quite unusual on "The Watchman" are two bass players and two drummers. Be sure these guys to know perfect where they are...a real good understanding among the musicians is remarkable...the spirit is on!! Maybe GC's music was more Gospel or Bluesy minded, to me "The Watchman" brings on a real good feel of Hard Rock music. Concerning the production of this work, you don't have to be afraid...it's just darn good! Twelve songs played and praised by this messenger of God, i'd like to recommend it all to worldwide rockers, blues magnets and bikers so follow your hearts and wheels and let the good times roll. Unite and have a blast! Contact president of TTM Records Tom Michaels to order at: trailertrashmusic@comcast.net MY POINTS: 82 / 100

Gypsy Carns
The Watchman Independent

Comments: Gypsy Carns is the Metal Preacher. Armed with only a guitar, a harmonica and his voice he takes on the Devil all around the world. He has been performing his version of Jesus rock/blues since 1963 and has recorded albums since 1966. His most recent foray into this is entitled The Watchman and is available for purchase now.

The Nashville native is seen as a musicianary, a man that spreads the word of God through his brilliant instrumentation. The music is biker metal with blues and a bit of country undertones thrown in. Carns sings of the coming of Jesus, uses dozens of Bible verses and lights up guitars like a savage. The songs are light and easy to the ears, average three minutes in length and include a very positive message.

The first song is “The Battle Rages On,” a song about the wars that are presently being waged around the globe. The vocals are good for this genre a raspy, heavy and deep Steppenwolf styled approach that are easy to understand. The track is basic biker metal with heavy guitars thundering through the simple riffs.

The next cut “Sound the Trumpet” is pretty much the same solid heavy mixture with a bit of distortion guitar lead thrown in at the end.

The slide guitars played on “Jerusalem in Ruins” and “Sanctify’d News” deliver some really unique tones, making these two of the best cuts on the record.

“Searchin” really has a bluesy/country feel to it with a twang to the guitars mixed into the metal music in a message about people reading their Bibles.

“Stand firm until the end, God will save us, its true my friends” is one of his positive messages in the song “End of the Age.”

In “Pray for Love,” Carns calls for people to pray for men to love one another, thereby helping to eliminate the wars on this earth.

“12 Rainbows” sees Gypsy light up the guitars and deliver some pretty aggressive lead work alongside his message.

“Save Jerusalem” is a straight blues track that sees pretty acoustic styling played by Carns.

This is a cool quality CD and one that should be heard by America’s youth alongside all the hate mongering death and black metal. It’s a great thing to see a gifted musician create quality Christian music!

MATTHEW 24:36,37,38,39,44: "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be...Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect."
