It's easy to think that the age of idolatry is long gone since few bow down to carved images of wood and stone these days. But that would be a big mistake. An idol is anything that takes the central place of Christ in our hearts. Anything that motivates our behavior or captures our affection more than Him. Modern-day idols could include entertainment, time management, physical beauty, work, and hobbies. While each of these things has it's appropriate place in our lives, that place is not the throne. We all fall into this trap at times, and when we do, the grace that our soul rightly craves gets strangled as we forfeit our freedom in Christ. Jonah 2: 8, 9 - Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs. But I, with a song os thansgiving, will sacrifice to you. What I have vowed I will make good. Salvation comes from the LORD.

É fácil de pensar que a idade de idolatria muito tempo é ida desde pouco arco até imagens esculpidas de madeira e apedreja hoje em dia. Mas isso seria um erro grande. Um ídolo é algo que toma o lugar central de Cristo nos nossos corações. Algo que motiva nosso comportamento ou captura nosso afeto mais que O. Ídolos dos dias de hoje podiam incluir divertimento, gerência de tempo, beleza física, trabalho, e passatempos. Enquanto cada um destas coisas ele tem é lugar apropriado em nossas vidas, esse lugar não é o trono. Todos queda nesta armadilha às vezes, e quando nós fazemos, a graça que nossa alma corretamente anseia recebe estrangulou como nós perdemos nossa liberdade em Cristo. Jonah 2: 8, 9 - Esses que agarram-se a ídolos imprestáveis perdem a graça que podia ser o seu. Mas eu, com uma canção thansgiving de os, sacrificará a você. O que eu jurei eu farei bom.
